What Is A Geological Relic?


The geological relics mean the precious and non-renewable geological natural heritages formed, developed and remained due to the geological processes of internal and external forces during the long geological history of the evolution of the earth. The main types include: the geological landscapes with significant ornamental value and important scientific research value; geological section and tectonic trace with important value; hominid relics and paleontology fossil relics with important value; minerals, rocks with important value and their typical place of origin; water resources with special significance; typical geological disaster relics and so on. China covers a vast geographic area and has complex geographical conditions, various forms of geologic structures and rich and colorful geological relics. It is also one of the few countries that have complete types of geological relics in the world.
